| Name | Michael Hallatt |
| | Born | 28 November 1962. Sheffield Yorkshire Born & Bred! | | Plays | Drums & Percussion | | History | I was fascinated by drums having seen a double drum set up with Gary Glitter and the Glitter Band. I started collecting drums at age 11 and briefly had drum lessons but stopped because rock and roll drummers don't read music! Self-taught, I played in 6 bands, the longest stint being 5 years with two very musically-talented brothers in a band called "Chronic!" | | Who are your favourite drummers & bands? | Greatest technically-talented drummer is Neil Peart from RUSH. I also like Roger Taylor from Queen and Brian Downey from Thin Lizzy, all three of those bands being favourites of mine. I like Foo Fighters to Fleetwood Mac. Any good music that's not whiney like REM! | What equipment do you play? | I have an UK Maxwin kit in great condition, it is a matching seven piece with four floor mounted double headed tom toms and one floor tom. Yamaha, premier and Pearl hardware with Pearl signature cymbals consisting of 20" Dry Ride, 18" Power Crash, 18", full crash, 18" fast crash, 16" fast crash and Sabian hand hammered 18" crash. Zildjian 14' custom hi hats. I have also got 3 roto toms which all together makes a large kit, I have always liked a large setup with a range of drums which gives me the opportunity to make some different and contrasting fills from the smallest tom 6' to the floor tom. I also have a Zildjian china crash trash and a splash cymbal and another set of closed hi hats and a double kick pedal for the bass drum, lots of extra clamps and cymbal mounts for when I assemble everything. (roadies must love you! - Ed..) | | Best moment? | Highlight was support to Aswad at the Bradford outdoor music festival in 1985, also playing 'wipe-out' at holiday home entertainment night. | | What else do you do? | I have independently raised money for charities from bungy jumps, single parachute jumps, bike rides, etc. I'm a qualified scuba diver and have done martial arts for the last decade (so watch out - don't spill your beer on his drumset! - Ed..) |
