Bass, Sax, Flute, Vocals, Percussion| Name | Tim Gould | | | Born | 1979 | Personal Website
| http://www.reverb.com.au/tgould/ | | Plays | Saxophone, Bass, Clarinet, Guitar, Keyboards, Flute and also know to occasionally abuse a drum kit. | What are your musical influences? | Many and varied. First remember wanting to play piano like Elton John, but didn't take long to move on to Iron Maiden, Metallica and RHCP, which I emulated with varying degrees of success playing guitar and singing horribly in a rock/punk band called iNerT. Eventually emerged mostly unscathed from my "metal period" with a love of jazz, which now manifests itself through the music of Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Wynton and Branford Marsalis. In terms of modern music, I listen to Jamiroquai, DIG, Saint Germain, lots of jazz/funk and anything with a top bass line. My music collection contains pretty much every genre except Country & Western and Top 40. | What are your favourite songs? | Hmm, only 3 of these are "Songs", I'm more of an instrumental person myself:
- So what (Miles Davis)
- Milestones (Miles Davis)
- Golden Brown (The Stranglers)
- Blow Your Mind (Jamiroquai)
- Same Like B3 (Directions in Groove)
- Stolen Moments (Mark Murphy)
- The entire Black Codes from the Underground Album (Wynton Marsalis)
| What equipment do you play? | - Ibanez TR 4-string bass
- Yamaha RBX765A fretless 5-string bass
- Peavey head, EV cabinet
- Cole Clark FL2AC Acoustic-Electric guitar
- Keilwerth SX-90 Tenor saxophone
- Buescher Aristocrat Alto saxophone
- Yamaha P-80 studio piano
- Yamaha flute
- Buffet R13 clarinet
- Roland G-707 guitar synth Controller and GR-700 Synth
- Fender Princeton Chorus guitar amp
- Mike's drums :)
| | Best moment? | Somewhere between getting married, birth of my daughter, and a year and a half traveling around Europe with my then-fiance, although I'd never be without any of my instruments for that long again.
Musically, playing solo at the Sydney Opera House will be hard to top. | | What else do you do? | Volunteer for the NSW State Emergency Service (www.ses.nsw.gov.au ) as a Rescue Team Leader, play tenor in a big band "The Honeymakers", advocate Open Source and Free software and consult IT on the side. And spend time with my family every chance I get.
