The Band |

The band was formed 2004 when an unlikely group of "IT professionals" -- a carefully chosen term to avoid connotations of "IT geek" or "propellerhead", were gathered together by Joe Fox (our manager) and discovered it was a lot more fun to play in a rock band than to do any of this high-falutin' IT professionalisin' and began putting their classical/metal/punk & pop musical training to creative use. So while the IT stuff pays the bills, it's the music that gives us the thrills.
This process began to take on a life of it's own, and as more people realised what fun it was they also volunteered their time to assist us (faithful roadies -- Jimmy, Roy, Vincent, Naoya and others, sound tech -- Kim, and female vocalists -- Ali and Jane). The band would like to extend a big thanks to all those who made it possible -- and continue to do so at each and every rehearsal and gig.
Where did the name "Jersey Kerb" come from?We were looking for a name for the band and several were thrown around ("Speed Bumps" and "Speed Humps" were two that didn't make it to the final cut, as were several really amusing ones I won't repeat here). Chris Diamantopoulos at work suggested "Jersey Kerb" and after some lengthy debate, internal politics, executive decision making, voting, bribes, beers, more debate and much mischief, the name stuck. The name comes from "Jersey Kerb" motorway concrete barriers but we have no idea yet how it might relate to us in any way (good or bad), so we'll stick with it for now. We gradually found various co-incidences with the "JK", namely Jim's Initials and Tim's Sax engraving. Also, if you search Google for "jersey kerb", you'll probably find 1) us 2) concrete barriers so it's easy to tell which is which :-)
